Local Info

With so many beautiful ‘places to visit’ and ‘things to do’ in this magical corner of Ireland, we have listed the best options – with the best ‘links’ – to help you plan your stay, but do make sure to leave yourselves at least a day or two to simply relax, you will literally feel the cares of the world drifting away!!

Excursions: These are our favourite day trips, some in the local area and some slightly farther afield, including The Skellig Ring, Valentia Island, the Beara Peninsula, Killarney and Dingle. There is also some information on local ‘Tour Guides’ who can help you plan your trips.

Activities: Plenty of things to do for all ages, including information on boat trips, fishing, sea sports, riding, golf and seaweed discovery walks and talks and fun ‘days out’ for children.

Eating Out: Some suggestions from ourselves and visitors on where to eat out locally up to an hours drive away from local pubs to gourmet restaurants.

Entertainment: If your party would like to organise some entertainment ‘in house’, here are some brilliant suggestions for musicians, a traditional Irish story teller, or talks about the local area and wildlife.

Wildlife at Westcove: For wildlife lovers, you don’t need to move far from Westcove itself as it brings together an astonishing variety of habitats in just a few acres.
