Winter Weekends
Whether you are golfers, walkers, artists, bridge players or just friends and family getting together for a celebration, we are offering off-season weekends for groups of 10-26.
For €150 per person you will stay at Westcove House (and The Stables and/or Garden Cottage depending on numbers), from any Friday pm – Sunday pm. This offer includes 2 nights B&B and one home-cooked dinner.
Arrive any time on Friday, enjoy a full Irish breakfast on Saturday, spend the day exploring this fascinating part of south Kerry – guided tours can be arranged – lunch at one of the many welcoming local pubs … then relax in front of the glowing log fire until Katherine calls you in to the elegant dining room of Westcove House for a delicious evening meal.
After dinner, we can arrange for local musicians to entertain you in the House – or Bernie could bring her band and get you dancing in the games room!
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast/brunch on Sunday morning, leaving you enough time for a stroll on Derrynane beach or a more challenging hill walk before your departure.
Suggested Menu for your winter break evening meal:
Starters: a selection of canapés will be served in the bar between 6.30 and 7.30pm – choose two from the following:
Home-made pates – chicken liver and/or smoked mackerel served on Irish Soda bread
Crab claws with a piquant chilli dip
A choice of delicious soups, served in mugs with Irish soda bread
Main Courses:
Fillets of salmon with crumb crust topping
Roast chicken with all the trimmings
Shepherd’s pie – succulent minced Kerry lamb topped with creamy mashed potato
Slices of baked gammon on a bed of colcannon
Beef and Guinness casserole – a good winter warmer
Vegetarian option – choice to be discussed with Katherine
Desserts: choose 2 of the following:
Roulade – chocolate or lemon meringue
Bread and butter pudding
Hot sliced apples in sticky toffee sauce served with spiced ice cream
Apple/rhubarb pie served with home-made custard or cream
Cheeseboard with fresh grapes
Optional extras: Katherine always has a selection of home-made dishes available from the freezer: lasagne, quiches etc – details on request – may be useful for your 1st night or one of the lunches.
Wines and Spirits: We do not stock any alcohol on the premises, as we are not licensed to do so. There is quite a good selection of wine available in local stores, but if you are a large group taking advantage of our Catering Options, we suggest you contact VG Wines, an excellent wine merchant based in Kenmare. Their website, www.vgwines.com, offers a comprehensive selection of wines to suit all tastes – and budgets! Delivery to Westcove is free on orders of one case or more. Spirits are very costly in Ireland, so we suggest you bring your own!
